A wet, windy, and wild night in Perth, saw a storm brewing over McDiarmid Park as both St Johnstone and Dundee tried to claw themselves out of the relegation zone.

St Johnstone were coming into this on the back of ten defeats in a row, including Scottish and League Cup exits - as Cup holders of both competitions, and saw themselves sitting bottom of the table, on 14 points.

Dundee were also coming into this fixture on bad form, and saw themselves only two points ahead of St Johnstone. Their last win was on December the 1st, ironically, a 1-0 win over The Saints.

Both clubs were looking at this fixture as a must win. St Johnstone having the opportunity to leapfrog Dundee, and The Dee looking to pull five points clear of The Saints.

Ex Dundee United striker, Nadir Ciftci had a short-lived home debut, as he limped off clutching his hamstring on the 8th minute, much to the delight of the Dundee supporters. He was replaced by Saints top scorer, with four goals, Chris Kane.

The 14th minute saw a collective effort by both sets of supporters and players, as they paid their respects to teenager Lily Douglas, who lost her battle with cancer at the weekend.

Very little moments of action occurred in a half that saw both sides struggle to keep control of possession.

Six minutes into the second half, Dundee manager James McPake turned to veteran Charlie Adam and new signing Niall McGinn, in hopes of finding the creative spark.

Leigh Griffiths finally tested Saints 'keeper Zander Clark with a well struck shot from the edge of the box, on the 63rd minute.

A game of high and long balls, neither team could gain control, particularly with the weather working against the style of play. A very predictable 0-0 finish.

Going by performances and recent form of both teams, it wouldn't surprise me if both are relegated. Whoever is in the playoff spot, will really struggle against the top four of the Championship, as it stands.
