Motherwell were the hosts for visitors, Aberdeen, who came with a strong away support of over 1,400.
From the first whistle, the mood was set for the game. Both sides weren't going to be backing out of any challenges. A total of thirty-six fouls were committed, with Motherwell receiving five yellow cards, and Aberdeen three.
Aberdeen's Declan Gallagher didn't quite get the returning reception he had hoped for from the Motherwell support, particularly when he almost put his new side infront on the 13th minute.

Tony Watt had a good chance to put Motherwell ahead on the 25th minute, when he nodded O'Hara's corner down and wide of goal.
A minute later, Kiayne Woolery whipped the ball in for Kevin van Veen to head home his second goal of the season, and putting Motherwell 1-0 up.
Aberdeen were unlucky to find themselves behind, but put the 'Well keeper under intense pressure right up until the halftime whistle. Calvin Ramsay was particularly impressive for The Dons, creating opportunities from the right, as well as having a few driving runs and shots on target.
The second half started as the first ended, Aberdeen were in complete control of possession and continued to create chances.
The 59th minute saw Motherwell double their lead, very much against the run of play. O'Hara slipped a quick free-kick wide to van Veen, who then put in a well placed cross into the six-yard box. Ojala met the ball and headered it in via the underside of the crossbar, scoring his first Motherwell goal, and their second on the day.
Both sides continued to get stuck into each other, right up until the full-time whistle, with the game finishing 2-0 to Motherwell.
Aberdeen will have been disappointed with the result, with it having little reflection on the stats. Controlling 75% possession, as well as twenty shots, with only seven on target.
Kevin van Veen was voted Man of the Match, and was well deserving of the award. Having scored the first goal, as well as assisted the second. Although he received one of Motherwell's five yellows on the 27th minute, that didn't put a stop to his tremendous work rate. Fighting for every ball, right up until he was subbed off on the 80th minute.
Great value for money with an entertaining game of football, brilliant atmosphere from start to finish, and a seat bang on the halfway line.
Attendance: 5,623.
